Sustainable Airspace Security Reason For Increase In Flights

Tehran, Oct 22, IRNA – Deputy for Navigation of Iran Airports Company Ebrahim Shoushtari says Iran’s sustainable airspace security in the region and existence of facilities and equipment required by air navigation are among reasons for the increase in the number of flights in the airspace of the country. Shoushtari told IRNA that round the clock services of expert personnel in guiding transit airplanes and enjoying advanced communication, navigation and radar systems are among other reasons. He said the deplorable air crash of the Malaysian airliner in Ukraine and recent incidents in Iraq have been remarkably effective in increasing transit flights over Iran’s air space, adding that for the first time in history the number of transit flights reached 1,015 on Oct 12. Shoushtari further remarked that currently over 950 flights from European and Asian countries pass through the Iranian air space with the guidance of Iranian air navigation experts. The official said that currently 96 air routes are operational in the country due to the welcome of air companies and traffic exchanges are underway round the clock with 11 neighboring countries. He also announced readiness of the air navigation industry to increase transit flights and said given the expertise of the Iranian experts in flight security and communication as well as planning made for the improvement of communication equipment Iran is prepared to further increase transit flights and offer proper services to airliners./end
