Swiss Paper: Zarif To Play Key Role In Iran's Nuclear Talks

Vienna, Aug 17, IRNA – The Swiss newspaper, Geneva Tribune, in its recent report, has referred to Irans new Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif as a respected diplomat who would play a key role in nuclear talks with West. Zarif won the vote of confidence from Iran's Parliament (Majlis) on August 15. Out of 281 votes cast, 232 votes were in favor and 36 were against Zarif while 13 votes were abstain. Referring to Zarif's role in Iran's nuclear talks with western states between 2003-2005, the paper wrote, he was one of the key players along with Hassan Rohani who was then in charge of nuclear negotiations. According to Geneva Tribune, Zarif is to continue his critical role in nuclear talks under President Rohani. The paper added that Rohani has emphasized that he would start serious talks with big powers to resolve Iran's nuclear issue without missing any of the country's legitimate rights./end
