Syrian FM says enemy pressing to change Iran's stands

Tehran, IRNA – Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad said on Wednesday that the enemy is pressing to change Iran's stands while the Islamic Revolution will continue to preserve its achievements. Mekdad who is on a visit to Tehran made the remarks at a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amirabdollahian. He noted that those who seek to undermine Tehran-Damascus relations have been defeated and will be defeated in the future. The Syrian foreign minister reiterated his country’s support for Iran’s stands in the course of nuclear talks. Damascus believes that Iran has been honest in the talks and hopes that the Western sides will give up their dishonest stands, Mekdad stressed. Asked to comment on the presence of terrorists in Syria, he said that hypocrisy and blackmail, which make the basis of the politics of Western countries, have caused the emergence of this terrorist group, and Daesh was born from the arms of the US and the Zionist regime. On the arbitrary sanctions on the Syrian people, the foreign minister said that sanctions target the nations to undermine their support for their governments. These sanctions are illegal, and the Western countries have to stop this issue, Mekdad said. Follow us on Twitter @IrnaEnglish
