Syrian government submits proposals on Syrian settlement; no agreement reached - negotiator

MOSCOW, April 8 /TASS/. A Syrian government delegation has submitted its proposals on intra-Syrian settlement at the inter-Syrian consultations in Moscow which have not produced any agreement so far, Fateh Jamus, the senior leader of the Coalition for Peaceful Change in Syria, told TASS on Wednesday. "We submitted our drafted document while the government delegation voiced its proposals. That created basis for a discussion. We will continue our work tomorrow," Jamus said. According to Haled Isa, the vice-chairman of Syria’s Democratic Union Party, the sides have reached no agreement so far. "We will continue our discussion tomorrow," Isa stressed. Asked about prospects for new meetings, Lama al-Atassi, secretary general for the Syrian National Front, said that future rounds of talks would depend on success of the Moscow consultations. "The most important thing is whether agreements reached are going to be implemented and whether confidence between the society and those in power is going to be built. If yes, they why not meeting in Moscow, Geneva and Cairo to continue the dialogue?," Lama al-Atassi said. "Today, we manage to bring our positions closer on some issues but a huge field for discussion remains," al-Atassi added. Read more
