Syrian Govt Not To Negotiate With Terrorist Groups In Geneva 2 Conference

Tehran, Oct 21, IRNA – Syrian presence at Geneva-II Conference to discuss the Humanitarian catastrophes in Syria does not mean that the government is willing to negotiate with terrorists and gunmen, Syrian Information Minister Omran al-Zohbi said on Sunday. By participation in Geneva Conference, the Syrian government will stress the need for a political solution to the crisis, Al-Zohbi said in an interview with Syrian state television. He reiterated that the future of Syria depends on finding a political solution to the crisis. Terrorist and armed groups are not politicians and has no place in political talks, he added. Syria has not changed its stand, the minister said, adding, the government is ready for negotiations but does not want to engage in talks with the culprits of massacre in Syria and their foreign supporters. He noted that regional developments made Syria to pay a heavy price to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity. He said that the Syrian government supports political dialogue as the only way to bring an end to the bloodshed./end
