Syrian opposition at Moscow talks formulate list of 10 proposals on conflict settlement - Qadri Jamil

MOSCOW, January 28. /TASS/. The Syrian opposition members at negotiations in Moscow have generally made up a list of 10 proposals for the settlement for the country’s conflict, leader of Syria’s opposition Popular Front for Change and Liberation Qadri Jamil said on Wednesday. "This list exists, it provides for, among other things, the cessation of bombing attacks on civilian population by both sides, release or prisoners, settlement of the issue of kidnapped people, allowing the shipment of food to all Syria’s districts, creation of a human rights group for monitoring in this sphere, creation of a bilateral commission for controlling these processes, lifting sanctions on Syria. Finally, we should reach a stage in which weapons will be held only by official government agencies," he said. Jamil said that the most vital issues were discussed and the programme is based on the Geneva communiqué of June 30, 2012. "Stopping bloodshed is now the priority. And more general issues should be left for the Geneva-3 talks," said the politician. Commenting on previous reports alleging that the sides [Syrian government delegation and opposition] have failed to come to terms, Jamil said that the consultations’ participants were not aiming to sign a [settlement] programme by all means. "We certainly hope to reach consensus, we still have the time," he said, adding, "I can say that this plan has been supported practically unanimously." Read more
