Syrian PM: President Assad Still Committed To Peaceful Political Solutions

Tehran, Aug 6, IRNA – Syrian Prime Minister Wael Nader Al-Halqi said President Bashar al-Assad is still committed to a peaceful political solution to the Syrian crisis and holding dialogue with leaders of the opposition groups. Making the remark in a meeting with the Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, he noted that the Syrian nation has resisted plots and non-human actions of terrorist groups in the past two years and achieved many victories. He stressed that the terrorist groups that receive foreign arms supports have no other objectives other than destroying Syrian economic infra-structures. Outlining the latest developments and situation in his country, the Syrian PM expressed appreciation for Iran’s supports to the resistance groups. Larijani said Tehran believes that Damascus’ internal problems should be solved through peaceful ways within its own borders because no democracy could be ever established through use of arms by terrorist groups. Terming Iran and Syria as two brotherly countries, he said establishment of peace in Syria through national dialogue is a necessity.
