Syrian President: Referendum on country’s new constitution may be held in March

Tagiyeva/ Referendum on a new constitution in Syria may be held in March 2011, Al-Jazeera TV channel quotes Syrian President Bashar al-Assad as saying. According to Assad, the parliamentary elections in the country are scheduled for approximately May-June 2012. The President said the country's opposition is not ready to negotiate with the authorities. Syria has been gripped by an uprising calling for the ouster of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad since March.
