Syrian Presidential Adviser Calls For Iranˈs Presence In Geneva 2 Conference

Damascus, June 9, IRNA – Bouthaina Shaaban, political and media advisor to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said on Saturday that Iran must be present at Geneva 2 conference to help bring peace to Syria. Speaking to Syrian Arab News Agency, she criticized certain Arab governments for abetting terrorism in Syria. She acknowledged retaking of the strategically important town of al-Qusair by Syrian government forces after heavy fighting with foreign-backed terrorist groups. She said that the Arab League must be held responsible for its anti-Syrian measures and support for terrorist groups instead of standing behind Syria in the international campaign against terrorism. She reiterated that Damascus was not surprised when the Arab League suspended Syriaˈs membership since it is dominated by Qatar which is a US puppet. The Arab League member states have spared no effort to supply the terrorist groups both financially and militarily, she said./end
