Tajik Professor: West's Demands For Iranian Oil Will Neutralize Sanctions

Dushanbe, Nov 28, IRNA – Tajik professor of commerce Abdolmakin Mirzayev said on Sunday that it seems that the demands of the US and western countries for Iranian oil and petrochemical products will force them to stop sanctions because they are the end users. Speaking to IRNA, he said those who unleashed recent sanctions against Iran will suffer most. The US along with European states are putting pressure on Iran to impede the country’s progress and prevent it from turning into an exemplary model for other Islamic states, he said. These countries imposed a devastating war through ‘Saddam Hussein’ but gained nothing and now it is not clear how they are going to attain their sinister goals through sanctions, he said. Toughening economic sanctions against Iran is a blunder as Iran’s geographic locations will make their plots backfire since parts of their goods should be transited through Iran en route to global markets, he said. Referring to current economic meltdown in the world, he said these countries have chosen the worst possible time to put pressure on Iran as they will are facing various economic problems. Widespread discontent in the European countries and the US with current economic situation will be a big hurdle to the leaders of these states in their efforts to put more pressure on Iran, he said. Neither the Iranian officials nor the nation is afraid of economic sanctions as these sanctions have paved the way for economic, political and social success of the Islamic Republic of Iran, he said./end
