Taliban, Al-Qaeda May Try To Assassinate Musharraf: Interior Ministry

Islamabad, March 11, IRNA – Banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and al-Qaeda may attempt to assassinate former military ruler General (retd) Pervez Musharraf, Interior Ministry has reported. In a letter sent to defense secretary, prime minister and president, the Interior Ministry stated that the retired general was facing life threats. The ministry said that Musharraf may be targeted by his own men the way slain Punjab governor Salman Taseer was gunned down by his security guard. The letter stated that an assassination plot was also made to attack Musharraf’s vehicle while he left for court from hospital. Earlier, Musharraf’s lawyer also presented a threatening letter in special court, claiming that it was sent by TTP. The letter asked the counsel team to separate themselves from the case or else they will be killed. The lawyers also stated that the former military ruler was also getting life threats./end
