Talks With 5+1 Held In Full Coordination With Top Iranian Officials

Tehran, Oct 22, IRNA – Talks with the Group 5+1 take place in full and constant coordination with top Iranian authorities, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham said Tuesday. The coordination is being made through President Hassan Rouhani and Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Afkham told reporters at her weekly press conference. She added that the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) is in charge of policy-making based on coordination between Supreme Leader and the President. Afkham made the remarks while asked whether Ayatollah Khamenei, prior to the Geneva talks, was informed of the details of Tehrans plan later presented to the members of the G5+1 in the talks. Representatives of Iran and the sextet (US, Britain, Russia, France and China plus Germany) met in Geneva on October 15-16. The talks were attended by Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif. After two days of serious talks, the two sides decided to meet again in Geneva on November 7-8. They have also agreed to maintain the confidentiality of the contents of their talks./end
