Tehran Friday Prayers Leader Condemns US War Rhetoric On Syria

Tehran, Sept 14, IRNA – Tehran’s Provisional Friday Prayers Leader Ayatollah Movahedi Kermani condemned the US and its allies for trying to bring Syria on the brink of an unwanted war, and said that such war will first of all harm the interests of Israel and its supporters. “The people and Muslim are awake and in case of outbreak of war it is not known what kind of fates the Zionist regime and its backers will be facing in the region,” Ayatollah Movahedi Kermani said. “I hope that the US leaders will be awakened, although it is very difficult for them,” he added. Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011 with organized attacks by well-armed gangs against Syrian police forces and border guards being reported across the country. Hundreds of people, including members of the security forces, have been killed, when some protest rallies turned into armed clashes. The government blames outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorist groups for the deaths, stressing that the unrest is being orchestrated from abroad. Tel Aviv, Washington and some Arab capitals have been staging various plots to topple President Bashar al-Assad, who is well known in the world for his anti-Israeli stances./end
