Tehran hosts Iran-Syria-Switzerland meeting on Syrian crisis

TEHRAN, Apr. 21 (MNA) – Tehran is hosting a trilateral meeting with Syrian and Swiss officials today in the Foreign Ministry to discuss various aspects of Syrian crisis. Iran Deputy-FM for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal al-Mekdad, and the Head of the Swiss Humanitarian Aid Unit, Manuel Bessler will be attending the meeting. Amir-Abdollahian noted the focus of the meeting would be on sending humanitarian aid to Syria and finding various mechanisms that could help bring all parts of this country under a more comprehensive coverage of the international assistance. A trilateral meeting between Iran, Iraq and Syria is also scheduled to be held in Tehran on Wednesday. The meeting is attended by Iran’s Amir-Abdollahian, Syria’s al-Mekdad and Iraqi deputy-FM Nazar Al-Khairallah. A previous meeting between the three countries was held in Tehran at the level of foreign ministers and on the sidelines of the International Conference on World against Violence and Extremism (WAVE) that opened on Dec. 9, 2014. According to Amir-Abdollahian, the Wednesday meeting will revolve around finding political solutions and appropriate mechanisms to improve political processes, fighting terrorism and helping the spread of peace, stability and security in the region.
