Tehran, Jakarta enjoy high capacity to develop co-op

Kuala Lumpur, Dec 13, IRNA – Indonesian former ambassador to Iran said that Iran and Indonesia would be able to take advantage of bilateral ties since they have joint expereinces and many capacities. Basrah Hassanedin said that Indonesia has good capacities in producing trade commodities, including tropical products, foodstuff, palm oil, paper and wood industry and in return Iran is unique in oil and gas, petrochemicals and asphalt. 'Iran and Indonesia membership in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation will pave the way for boosting cooperation and fighting terrorism,' he said. He referred to Indonesian President Joko Widodo trip to Iran as important, saying that Iran and Indonesia have been promoting ties. Joko Widodo is to arrive in Tehran on Tuesday and he is scheduled to visit Iranian high-ranking officials on Wednesday. Widodo's trip is a response to President Rouhani's trip to Indonesia last year. President Rouhani had a tour to Indonesia last year and negotiated with Indonesian officials to develop bilateral cooperation and an agreement was achieved to boost economic ties. Indonesian president is to meet with the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, President Hassan Rouhani and Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani. 1378/IRNA
