Tens Of Thousands Call For Erdoganˈs Resignation At German Demo

Berlin, June 23, IRNA -- Around 40,000 people took to the streets of the West German city of Cologne on Saturday, demanding the resignation of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan amid the ongoing brutal security crackdown in Turkey, according to press reports. Speakers at the demonstration urged Erdogan to step down and called for new elections in Turkey. Protesters carried anti-Erdogan banners branding him a ˈfascist and dictatorˈ for what they see as massive human rights violations. Demonstrators held also a one-minute silent vigil in honor of the victims of the Turkish government repression. Germany has been the scene of numerous anti-Erdogan protests over the past two weeks. There are approximately 3.5 million Turks living in Germany, making it the largest ethnic minority in that country./end
