Terrorist Attack On Hazrat Zaynab (AS) Shrine Widely Condemned In Pakistan

Islamabad, July 22, IRNA – The terrorist attack on the mausoleum of Hazrat Zaynab (AS) has widely been condemned across Pakistan. In Islamabad the main protest rally started from Asna Ashri Imambargah and ended outside the building of ministry of foreign affairs on Sunday. The demonstration was organized by Majlis Wehdat Muslemeen (MWM), Anjuman-e-Tahafuz Mazarat and Imamia Student Organization (ISO). The protestors were carrying placards inscribed with slogans against US, Zionist regime and some Arab states. Religious leaders and rights activists urged the government of Pakistan to come forward and condemn the shameful act in a strong voice. They said that imperialist forces led by US, Zionist regime and some Arab states are behind unrest in Syria. Meanwhile a protest demonstration was also held in the port city of Karachi. The MWM leaders issued statements to condemn the attack. They said that all Muslims are in a state of shock over the incident. Earlier the MWM had announced ten days of mourning over the tragic incident. Chief of the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Altaf Hussain strongly condemned attack on Hazrat Zaynab’s (AS) shrine in Syria and termed it as attack on the unity and oneness of the whole Muslim world. In a statement, he said he was deeply shocked by the news of attack on the shrine in which its custodian was killed. He said He would remain flag bearer of Pan-Islamic Unity till his last breath. Altaf Hussain said it is time to find out which forces are bent upon spreading hatred among Muslimsˈ ranks to the extent that shrine of Hazrat Zaynab (AS) was attacked in Syria. The Shia Ulema Council and Majlis Wehdat Muslemeen (MWM) took out procession in Hyderabad in Sindh province condemning attack on the mausoleum of Hazrat Zaynab (AS) and demanded from government to stop zealots of banned religious outfits to proceeding towards Syria who are reported to be going to their own behest of US to carry out terrorist acts. The Council procession ended at Channel Mori where Maulana Agha Muhammad Qambrani, Mustafa Ali Hydri, Maulana Natiq Hussain addressed the procession. They said the attack on mausoleum of Hazrat Zaynab (AS) was attack on Muslim Ummah and blasphemous act yet the terrorists call themselves as Muslims. They demanded to expel all terrorists from Syria, Muslim countries should unite and the Pakistani government and religious and political parties raise voice against the incident. The participants also observed mourning and Nuha Khani until evening./end
