Thai business sector urged to help low income people

BANGKOK, August 16 (TNA) - Thai Army and National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) Chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha has called on the country's business sector to assist low income earners by reducing their products' prices. Speaking during his weekly address on Friday (Aug 15) night, General Prayuth pointed out that reduced goods prices will help boost purchasing power of the low income earners, including those in the local farm sector and workers in local industries, and will then stimulate the national economic growth. General Prayuth also urged the business sector to gain reasonable profits and buy produce from local farmers at reasonable prices to allow them to survive and continue with their next cultivations and farming. Regarding falling farm products prices currently, including natural rubber and fruits, the NCPO chief called for the farmers not to stage any rally, both in Bangkok and provincial areas, as the junta is working out solutions to the problem. As higher educational students are starting their new semester, the junta chief, meanwhile, warned senior students of universities and colleges not to harm or force their freshmen to do mischievous activities during thier initiation periods.
