Thai Cabinet to announce anti-corruption stance

BANGKOK, July 1 (TNA) - Thailand's new Cabinet, the fifth of the two-year administration of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, will announce its determination to oppose and suppress corruption on July 2 in a bid to enhance national images. Government Spokesman Teerat Ratanasevi told journalists on Monday that, after its Tuesday's weekly meeting, the Yingluck 5 Cabinet, which was royally appointed on June 30, together with permanent secretaries of all ministries and their directors-general, will announce their determination to stop corruption at all levels and promise the transparency of the new Cabinet. According to the spokesman, the prime minister is confident that her new Cabinet members are knowledgeable, capable, suitable for their positions and eager to fight against corruption, as well as adhere to righteousness, which will make Thailand internationally-recognized for its anti-corruption movement. The spokesman noted that the Thai Cabinet will focus on its anti-corruption plan, set to be implemented later this year and next year, and that heads of ministries, departments, provinces, state enterprises, universities and public organizations will be appointed as the chief anti-corruption officers of the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC), in charge of suppressing corruption in their own organizations and informing the PACC of corruption. The government spokesman said that the prime minister also wants people to participate in the fight against corruption by reporting corruption through its websites, hotlines and post office boxes.
