Thai, Vietnamese PMs agree to help investors

HANOI, March 31 (TNA) - Vietnam will assist Thai investors, doing businesses in Vietnam while Thailand supports Vietnamese people to work legally in Thailand. The pledge was made Friday during bilateral talks between Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha and his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Xuan Phuc on the sidelines of the sixth Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS), being held in Hanoi between March 30 – 31. Praising Vietnam in hosting the sixth GMS summit, Gen. Prayut lauded the Vietnamese economic development and also told Mr. Phuc that his government would be willing to support Vietnam in every field. Gen. Prayut said the Thai government also encourages Vietnamese people to work in Thailand legally while he also requested Vietnam to assist Thai businessmen investing there. Mr. Phuc responded by telling Gen. Prayut that he was pleased to learn that trade between the two countries has increased continuously and the Vietnamese government would help support Thai investment in Vietnam. Both of them later witnessed the handover of certificate of AMATA City Halong project, which sees a group of Thai investors belonging to the AMATA group investing in a Vietnamese town of Quang Ninh province. The investment project will help upgrade the mega industrial estate covering about 5,700 hectares to becoming ‘Smart City’ in future. (TNA)
