Thailand’s ruling party to assess Amnesty Bill opposition

BANGKOK, Nov 3 (TNA) - MPs of Thailand's ruling Pheu Thai Party will on Monday assess the political situation, especially on ongoing opposition to the Amnesty Bill. PT Party spokesman Prompong Nopparit said his party’s administrative committee was scheduled to hold a meeting on the current political situation at 1.00 p.m. Monday, followed by another meeting of the MPs at 2.30 p.m. Meanwhile, security near the residence of Prime Minister and Defence Minister Yingluck Shinawatra had remained tight with police setting up checkpoints, leading to her house. The Democrat Party and its supporters meanwhile, continued to stage mass demonstrations against the Amnesty Bill at Bangkok’s Samsen railway station since last Thursday. The Democrat Party charged that the government had persuaded the senators to approve the Bill, warning that it would intensify protests Monday across the country. (TNA)
