Thailand, the Philippines aim at mutual, regional growth

MANILA, August 28 (TNA) -- The leaders of Thailand and the Philippines agree to boost the prosperity partnerships of both countries for the benefits of their people and the whole ASEAN Community. The agreement resulted from Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha's visit to the Philippines where he has met Philippine President Benigno Aquino III in Manila on Aug 28. After the meeting, Gen Prayut told a press conference that both sides were pleased with close bilateral ties and agreed to further boost their cooperation for mutual growth and the strength of the ASEAN Community. During the visit, the Thai prime minister also invited the private sector of the Philippines to invest more in Thailand, also in its border economic zones with neighbouring countries. Besides, he encouraged authorities of both countries to have regular meetings to push for the progress of bilateral cooperation. He referred to their 6th Meeting of Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation, their first academic conference on Sept 24 and 25, their first Joint Trade Committee Meeting and their first Joint Commission for Military Cooperation meeting this year. The delegation of Gen Prayut returned to Thailand at 4.45pm. (TNA)
