Thailand sends relief team to assist Nepal

BANGKOK, April 26 (TNA) – Thailand’s Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha has ordered the Public Health Ministry and the military to prepare for medical personnel and urged the general public to join in donating essential items to help quake-hit Nepal. Major General Sansern Kaewkamnerd, deputy spokesman of the Prime Minister’s Office, quoted the order saying that the emergency team would travel to aid the quake victims soonest, adding that the authorities had coordinated with the Thai embassy in the Nepalese capital of Kathmandu. He added that all Thai nationals in Nepal wishing to return home could immediately contact the Thai embassy there. The Thai government had urged for public donation of goods and necessities for the victims at the Interior Ministry and its offices across the country. It would also organise a television programme to raise charity funds for the victims. (TNA)
