Thailand welcomes historic US-NKorea summit

BANGKOK, June 13 (TNA) -- Thailand welcomes the historic meeting of the leaders of the US and North Korea in Singapore on June 12.

US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un hold an unprecedented summit in Singapore. Kim and Trump had accepted invitations to visit each other's countries. They promised in a joint statement to work toward the "denuclearization" of the Korean Peninsula. Trump also said the US would halt military exercises with Seoul.

The statement publicised on website of Thailand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said this epoch-making summit reflects the strong commitment of the two leaders to achieve sustained peace, stability and prosperity on the Korean Peninsula with denuclearization as the key step.

"As we warmly laud this noble commitment, it is our ardent hope that all parties concerned will exert their utmost efforts in attaining these significant goals for the benefits of the region and the world. Like all others, we look forward to the progress and stand ready to render support in any way we can."

Thailand also praises Singapore for hosting this US-North Koran Summit. (TNA)
