Theresa May's remarks for weapon marketing: Senior official

Tehran, Dec 11, IRNA – Head of Center for Strategic Studies Hessamoddin Ashena commented on the recent remarks made by the British Prime Minister Theresa May, saying they were for weapon marketing. Accusing Iran of doing 'aggressive regional actions' in the Middle East does not help the region, but is a marketing attempt for weapons, Ashena said on the sidelines of the Tehran Security Conference that kicked off here on Sunday. 'Certain regional countries are not confident enough to take part in the regional participation, so they think that they can tackle their internal problems through the foreigners' support,' the official stressed. Ashena further referred to the regional order as a result of the regional cooperation. Turning to the newly US anti-Iran action to extend sanctions on Iran for another ten years, Ashena said 'Iran will never be the one which starts violating the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).' The day-long international Tehran Security Conference: Regional Security Order in the West Asia started work here with participation of Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani, Minister of Intelligence Mahmoud Alavi and officials at scientific and research centers for West Asia's order. 1378/IRNA
