'Things Can Work Out Very Nicely', Says Trump On Tuesday's Summit

By Massita Ahmad SINGAPORE, June 11 (Bernama) -- “Things can work out very nicely,” says United States President Donald Trump on ‘nuclear peace’ Summit with North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un scheduled for Tuesday. Trump expressed his hope at the beginning of a working lunch hosted by Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at The Istana Monday. The meeting between the leaders was broadcast live by the host broadcaster, Mediacorp and Lee’s official Facebook. "We have a very interesting meeting in particular tomorrow, and I think things can work out very nicely," said Trump. Trump has also expressed his appreciation to Lee for Singapore’s hospitality. “We appreciate your hospitality and professionalism and your friendship. Thank you very much," he said. The landmark Summit will be held at Capella Hotel on Sentosa Island. A closed-door meeting was held between North Korean and US officials at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel this morning believed to finalise agreements ahead of the historic Summit. Among others, the pertinent agenda is for Pyongyang to commit for a total ‘denuclearisation’ efforts while in return enjoying a security guarantee and economic freedom. Both Kim and Trump arrived Sunday, two days earlier from the planned Summit. -- BERNAMA
