Time For Pressurizing Iran Is Over : Jalili Tells Rocard

Tehran, May 14, IRNA – Secretary of Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili said on Sunday that the time is over for the strategy of pressure against Iran. In a meeting with former French prime minister Michel Rocard, Jalili criticized western officials for making illogical statements about Iranian nuclear program. Jalili said that the Islamic Republic of Iran has reiterated civilian nature of Iranian nuclear program and the International Atomic Energy Agency has verified non-diversion of Iran’s nuclear program from civilian path, but, certain western governments are making repetitive statements which proved unconstructive. “They must know that the West's miscalculation about Iran will drive the negotiations to dead-end,” Jalili warned. He said that the Islamic Republic of Iran expects the western governments to take confidence-building steps to win the Iranian nation's trust. M. Rocard, for his part, said the French people are displeased with the administration of financial crisis over the past five years. He said that the European and French people are fed up with the capitalist style administration of the financial crisis and capitalism is the major stumbling block. The former French prime minister said that the French people voted against capitalism which has driven both French and European people to poverty. “The capitalist governments give preference to interest of the capitalists when they make planning to deal with financial crisis. Such policy making has deteriorated the situation,” Rocard said. M. Rocard said that the nuclear talks between Iran and Group 5+1 have been a step forward to resolve the dispute and hoped that the upcoming talks in Baghdad on May 23 will lead to satisfactory outcome, something which will benefit all including France./end
