Top diplomats of Russia, China discuss schedule of forthcoming bilateral high-level contacts

MOSCOW, August 5. /TASS/. Foreign Ministers of Russia and China Sergey Lavrov and Wang Yi have discussed on the sidelines of the ASEAN events in Kuala Lumpur the schedule of high-level bilateral contacts, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday. "The foreign ministers discussed topical issues of the international agenda with a focus on the situation in the Asia-Pacific region and the prospects for cooperation on the regional multilateral venues," the ministry said. "The two sides reaffirmed high assessment of the Russian-Chinese relations and pointed to the importance of further deepening cooperation between the two countries in the global and regional affairs." The ASEAN events involving Lavrov are held in Malaysia on August 5 and August 6. During his trip to Kuala Lumpur the Russian foreign minister will take part in the Russia-ASEAN ministerial round, in the work of the top diplomats of the East Asia Summit and the ASEAN regional security forum.
