Top MP: Iran Does Not Officially Recognize Geneva 2 Talks On Syria

Tehran, Jan 1, IRNA – Vice-Speaker of Majlis Hojjatoleslam Mohammad-Hassan Abutorabifard says Iran does not officially recognize the westˈs Geneva 2 talks on Syria and does not insist attending it. ˈVigilance of the Syrian and Muslim nations has cost the US and the west consecutive failure,ˈ Abutorabifard told IRNA on Tuesday. He said Iran has proposed two basic principles as the key to Syria problem, including stopping arms shipment to rebels and foreignersˈ exit and non-interference in the countryˈs internal affairs as well as Syrian nationˈs right to decide their fate. ˈOur country might not be physically present in the talks but our political strategy and idea on betterment of Syria conditions do dominate outcome of the meeting.ˈ He concluded that the two principles can be the only acceptable and workable solutions./end
