Tripartite ministerial meeting to kick-start regional cooperation process - Aliyev

BAKU, April 6. /TASS/. Foreign Ministers Elmar Mamedyarov of Azerbaijan, Sergey Lavrov of Russia and Javad Zarif of Iran will hold a trilateral meeting in Baku on Thursday that is due to kick-start a serious process of regional cooperation, Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev said on Wednesday at his meeting with Lavrov. "The meeting will be the first ever in this country," Aliyev said. "It will lay a foundation for a very serious process of regional cooperation." Azerbaijan is the only state neighboring both Russia and Iran, he said claiming that the geographic factor and history of Azerbaijan’s relations with Russia and Iran "will lay a solid foundation for further promotion of cooperation in the trilateral and multilateral formats." "Lots of issues" will be on the table of the ministerial meeting, Aliyev said, naming the fight against international terrorism and cooperation in transport and energy sectors among them. Read more
