Trump failed to use JCPOA against Iran: Int'l lawyer

Tehran, Feb 6, IRNA – US government has not been able to exploit one single paragraph of the 2015 nuclear deal known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action against (JCPOA) Iran, said an international law expert. 'We need to pay attention to the fact that the US government has not succeeded to use even one single article of the JCPOA as a pretext against Iran,' said Reza Nasri regarding a TV reporter's question asking Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, 'Couldn't the deal be any batter?' 'Hence, in his October address, the US president had to refer the Hostage Crisis, instead of the JCPOA, that had happened 40 years ago, and the activities attributed to Iran to pressure it,' he told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA). He also said that US permanent representative at UN Nikkei Haley couldn’t find an article in the JCPOA to use to press Iran, either. All the Zionist lobbies and think tanks, despite sparing a lot of time and energy on that, have not been able to find a noticeable point against Iran in the JCPOA, he added. The expert from Geneva's Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (HEI) said that about Iraq, for example, George Bush's administration interpreted some of the articles of the UN Security Council Resolution and used them to attack Iraq. Nasri concluded that the JCPOA has been drafted good enough, because the US has been not been able to use it against Iran, so that now they have to find 'beyond-the-text' excuses to press Iran. 1378/IRNA
