Tunisia Opposes Any Military Intervention In Syria

Tehran, Sept 3, IRNA - Tunisian Foreign Affairs Minister Othman Jerandi has stressed that Tunisia is opposed to any foreign military intervention in Syria. He told reporters that any probable military attack on Syria will have severe impact not only on Syria but also on the whole region. He underlined the need to boost peaceful mechanisms so as to find swift and efficient solutions to the Syrian crisis. Jerandi reiterated that his country is in favor of peaceful settlement of the crisis that would avoid bloodshed and preserve the country's territorial integrity. He emphasized the seriousness of the situation in Syria, regretting the conflict has reached a dangerous phase resulting in use of banned chemical weapons. He condemned the use of such weapons and urged the United Nations to help reveal the truth about the recent use of chemical weapons in Syria./end
