Tunisian Editors-in-chief Welcome Iranˈs Efforts To End Syrian Crisis

Tunis, Feb 5, IRNA – Editors-in-chief and managing directors of highly-circulated Tunisian dailies here Monday welcomed Iranˈs efforts aimed at ending regional conflicts, in particular, the Syrian crisis. The editors-in-chief and managing directors of Tunisian dailies, including As-Sabah, al-Shorouq and Al-Maqrib, who had gathered at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran had separate meetings with the country's Ambassador Payman Jalili. In the meetings they also appreciated Iranˈs efforts for restoration of peace and security in Syria. The officials of the Tunisian dailies meanwhile emphasized the need for vaster cooperation between the media representatives of both countries, asking for getting better acquainted with the latest political, social, cultural, scientific, and technological achievements of Iran. Ambassador Jebeli, too, in the meetings which were held aimed at seeking ways for expanding media cooperation between Iran and Tunisia, elaborated on Iranˈs stands regarding the latest regional developments, including the Syrian and Bahraini crises. In the bilateral meetings both sides also exchanged ideas on Iran-Tunisia bilateral relations, as well as the regional and international developments. In August 2012, Iranian and Tunisian presidents in a meeting in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, discussed the latest developments in the region and the Muslim world, especially in Syria. After the victory of Tunisian Revolution in July 14, 2011, the meeting was the most important meeting between the highest officials of both countries. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and President Muhammad Mocef Marzouki discussed bilateral ties, unity among Islamic world nations in defending Muslims and their sanctity as well as issue of Syria./end
