Turkey to cooperate with Selenge

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Mongolia paid a working visit March 6-7 to Selenge aimag to get au fait with operations of Altanbulag free-trade zone and to intensify the public diplomacy of his Embassy. The Ambassador met with the aimag’s Governor Mr S.Burenbat to exchange views on the opportunities of cooperation in agriculture, road and transport, education and food sectors. While visiting “Altan taria” wheat factory, the Ambassador brought with him a documentary film “Secret of Istanbul”. He also visited the statue of the Queen Khulan and a mountain pass “Saikhan”. Upon his arrival in the Altanbulag free-trade zone, Mr Karagoz attended the opening of “Made in Turkey” center. During the tour around the free trade zone, he mentioned that nineteen free trade zones operate in Turkey, the biggest of which is Ege Free Zone. “Turkish free trade zones hosted trades of 3.5 billion US Dollars last year. The main principles at these trade zones include maintaining a liberal atmosphere and a favorable environment for foreign investments, and conducting official logistics,” he noted and highlighted that there are possibilities to cooperate and share such practices with Mongolia. After this, Mr Karagoz along with accompanying him delegates crossed the border through the Altanbulag port and met with the Governor of Kyakhta city. On the way back, the Ambassador visited a herder’s family in Javkhlant soum, which soum benefited from an electric infrastructure development conducted by TIKA in 2003. Mr Murat Karagoz in his interview with the press said that Selenge aimag is of special importance as it borders with Russia, has a rich history and unique demographic settings, and hosts majorly important roads, railway network, water resources and a free trade zone. “The Republic of Turkey is willing to cooperate with this strategic locality and to promote the Turkish businesses here” he said and suggested that Selenge aimag can establish sisterhood relations with one of the cities of Turkey.
