Turkey Foreign Minister leaves for Tehran

Ankara, Dec 17, IRNA -- Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu left Ankara for Tehran for talks with high-ranking Iranian officials late Tuesday night. This is the first visit of a Turkish foreign minister during the new Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu’s government. The Turkish Foreign Ministry’s spokesman and a number of that ministry’s experts are accompanying Çavuşoğlu in this visit. The official visit is on an invitation of the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and on Wednesday he will also be received by President Hassan Rouhani. Meetings with Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and First Vice President Es’ahq Jahangiri, too, are included in his agenda. Exchange of opinion on bilateral ties and major regional developments will be the main axes of the two countries’ official during Foreign Çavuşoğlu's visit of Tehran, which will end on Wednesday night./end
