Turkey offered membership for OECD Development Assistance Committee

ANKARA (A.A) - February 21, 2012 - Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag received on Tuesday the Chairman of the OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC) Brian Atwood at the Prime Ministry in Ankara. In a written statement released on Tuesday, the Turkish Prime Ministry said that Atwood offered membership to Turkey in the OECD Development Assistance Committee as a country already assisting many countries, including Somalia, in all corners of the world. Bekir Bozdag told Atwood that Turkey closely followed the works of the DAC, said the Prime Ministry in its statement. "We support many countries in education, health and infrastructure works. We provide assistance to Somalia for infrastructure and superstructure projects. We have been honored to receive an offer for membership in the DAC. We will evaluate the offer and discuss this issue with a positive understanding," Bozdag told Atwood, the Prime Ministry indicated in its statement. Brian Atwood expressed that he was pleased with the words he heard from Bozdag, the Prime Ministry also said.
