Turkey strongly supports Palestine's membership in UN, says Turkish Permanent Representative

UNITED NATIONS (A.A) - December 1, 2011 - Turkey's Permanent Representative at the United Nations, Ambassador Ertugrul Apakan, said Wednesday that Turkey strongly supported Palestine's membership in the United Nations. Conveying Turkey's views in an UN General Assembly meeting on the Middle East, Apakan said that the Arab-Israel dispute had to be solved and the Palestinian people should be able to make use of their rights. Talks between Palestine and Israel can not begin when Jewish settlements continue, Apakan stressed. Turkey calls on Israel to fulfill its obligations arising from international laws and end all activities that destroy peace, Apakan also said.
