Turkey's EU minister discusses agriculture, food safety with Prince Charles

LONDON (A.A) - February 29, 2012 - Turkey's European Union (EU) minister and chief negotiator discussed agriculture and food safety with Prince Charles of Wales on Tuesday. Sources said Egemen Bagis attended a reception and dinner Prince Charles hosted on occasion of a meeting of the International Sustainability Unit in London. During the meeting, Bagis debated agriculture and food safety with Prince Charles and said EU's opening negotiations with Turkey on food safety, one of the challenging chapters on road to membership, was an important development for Turkey. Bagis said 7,500 agricultural advisers had raised awareness about food and animal breeding in Turkey, and underlined importance of establishment of Food, Agriculture and Animal Breeding Ministry and Aquaculture Directorate General in Turkey. Minister Bagis is expected to give a conference at the London School of Economics and meet investors at the Goldman Sachs investment bank on Wednesday.
