Turkic public organizations and representatives of Azerbaijani diaspora in the Netherlands hold protests in Almelo

Baku, April 25 (AzerTAc). Turkic public organizations and representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora in the Netherlands have held protests against the unveiling of a monument commemorating the so-called Armenian genocide in front of the Armenian Church in the city of Almelo, Azerbaijani State Committee for Work with Diaspora said. During the protest held in front of the building of the Almelo municipality, leaders and representatives of the Turkic public organizations made speeches condemning the opening of the monument. Ilhan Askin, President of the Dutch Azerbaijan-Turkey Cultural Association, said that although Armenians were permitted only to install a monument, the word “genocide” was later inscribed on it. Askin added that the Turkic public organizations and representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora in the Netherlands were ready to protest until the monument was destroyed. The protesters appealed to the municipality of Almelo to take the monument down.
