Turkish Activist: Sanctions Against Iran, Crime Against Humanity

Ankara, Feb 19, IRNA – Head of theTurkish Human Rights Association Uair Yeghit said on Saturday imposing sanctions against Iran is a crime against humanity. Yeghit was referring to the new round of sanctions imposed on Iran by the US and European Union. “No country must be exposed to sanctions just because of protecting its national sovereignty, therefore new embargoes against Iran are not logical or acceptable,” Yeghit said. He said it is a diplomatic norm to credit official statements, while Iranian officials have time and again announced that they are not after building nuclear weapons. The social activist asked why western officials do not trust Iran given the fact that their nuclear activities are completely peaceful. He described the new move by the West against Iran as illogical and said imposition of sanctions against a nation under false pretexts is a crime against humanity./end
