Turkish Cypriot premier says Turkey will assist TRNC in dealing with its problems

ISTANBUL (A.A) - 01.06.2011 - Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Prime Minister Irsen Kucuk has said that Turkey would assist the TRNC in dealing with its economic problems.
Attending a meeting of Marmara Group Strategic and Social Research Foundation in Istanbul, Kucuk said that they would pave the way for the private sector by taking measures necessary for a sustainable budget structure.
Tourism sector was also affected negatively by some problems stemming from lack of political recognition, he said.
Kucuk said that Turkey and TRNC had been conducting joint works regarding direct flights.
"The number of passengers arriving in TRNC increased by 13 percent and the number of tourists staying in TRNC rose by 9 percent since we came to the political power. There is a great cooperation in the tourism sector between Turkey and TRNC," he said.
Kucuk said that they expected the number of tourists to reach 1.1 million within the next five years and 2 million in 2023 on annual basis.
