Turkish economy minister opens fair in India

MUMBAI (A.A) - November 16, 2011 - Turkey's economy minister inaugurated Turkish products fair in Mumbai, India on Wednesday. Zafer Caglayan opened the fair, organized for the first time in Mumbai by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO). Speaking in the inauguration ceremony, Caglayan said Turkish and Indian companies should not only cooperate with themselves but also implement joint projects in other countries. Caglayan said Turkey wanted to launch negotiations to sign an economic partnership agreement with India. "We think quota India puts on some Turkish goods is meaningless," he said. The economy minister said Turkey was eager to construct mass housing and airports, and implement infrastructural and other projects in India. ITO is organizing the First "Expo Turkey 2011 in India" in Mumbai, India's commercial and financial hub, in order to open a new gate to Indian market. The fair aims to not only boost economic and commercial relations between Turkey and India but also increase business opportunities in Asia and contribute to promotion of Turkish culture.  Eighty-five companies are displaying their products, from food to furniture, from souvenirs to chemicals, from cosmetics to plastic goods, from construction materials to machinery in the fair that will last for four days.
