Turkish EU minister says Turkey, TRNC aim at solution of Cyprus issue

ANKARA (A.A) - March 5, 2012 - Turkish EU minister said on Monday that the main goal of Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) was a solution to the Cyprus issue. Speaking to AA correspondent, EU Minister and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis said, "our goal is a solution on which both parties agree in Cyprus as well as a United Cyprus State's assuming the term presidency of EU in July (2012). But if a solution is not reached, then all alternatives are open to assessment." Bagis said Turkey would not leave TRNC alone. Turkey and TRNC wanted comprehensive solution talks under the UN to be completed successfully. TRNC without Turkey and Turkey without TRNC were out of question, he added.
