Turkish foreign minister says no information received that tanks entered Hama again

ANKARA (A.A) - August 11, 2011 - Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said on Thursday that Turkey had not yet received any information that tanks had entered Syrian city of Hama again.
Asked to comment on the news reports that tanks entered Hama again on Wednesday evening, Davutoglu said, "we have received this information late at night on Wednesday. I immediately telephoned Turkey's Ambassador Omer Onhon. We talked to the governor of Hama. He said there was not any tank or heavy weapon in Hama."
Davutoglu said he talked with the executive of a tv channel which broadcast the news to ask if there was any photograph or video footage regarding the news, adding that it was revealed that the news reports were mostly given based on witnesses.
"A delegation of journalists is currently in Syria. It is important that those cities are open to international media. We are very closely monitoring the developments," he said.
Asked to comment on the allegations that Syria launched military operation in some residential areas close to Turkish border, Davutoglu said they had not received any news regarding the operation.
Davutoglu said it was difficult to expect an immediate recession under such conditions when tension escalated that much.
"We expect urgent measures to prevent loss of lives," he said.
