Turkish, Iranian and Azerbaijani FMs in Nakhchivan for talks

Azerbaijan, Nakhchivan, March 7 / Trend E. Huseynov / Turkish, Iranian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers are on visit to Nakhchivan. Today Nakhchivan will host a trilateral meeting of foreign ministers of Turkey, Iran and Azerbaijan, Ahmet Davutoglu, Ali Akbar Salehi and Elmar Mammadyarov. The three foreign ministers met with Chairman of the Supreme Council of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Vasif Talibov. The foreign ministers held bilateral meetings. It is expected that ministers will hold a trilateral meeting behind closed doors. Later they will continue their meeting in an enlarged format. A briefing for journalists will be held following the meetings. It is expected that foreign ministers will discuss issues of mutual interest to all three states, including - the peaceful settlement of current conflicts in the region and necessity to create favorable conditions to achieve this goal. The ministers intend to discuss measures to implement joint projects in the interest of establishing stability and prosperity in the region. As is expected, the ministers will focus on the current situation in South Caucasus. The ministers will discuss ways to deepen cooperation through economic growth and sustainable development. In addition, Azerbaijan, Turkey and Iran seek to strengthen cooperation in combating terrorism, organized crime and trafficking in drugs and weapons. The format of trilateral meetings of Turkish, Iranian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers is important in terms of the discussion of regional issues, exchange of views on cooperation in the region, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov told journalists earlier commenting on the ministerial meeting in Nakhchivan. "We agreed to hold these meetings twice a year, and the next meeting will be held in Turkey," he said. The first meeting was held in the Iranian city of Urmia. Do you have any feedback?
