Turkish Official: Iran-Turkey, Two Important Regional States

Ankara, July 7, IRNA – Governor of Istanbul Huseyin Avni Mutlu, in a meeting with Iran’s new Consul General Mohsen Mortezaeifar, called Iran and Turkey as two important and effective states in the region. The governor called for deepening of communication and ties between the two countries given the huge existing capacities. Iran’s new consul general, by submitting his credentials to the Istanbul governor and by referring to the historical, cultural and religious commonalities between the two countries, said that mutual ties, with such commonalities and support of the officials of the two Muslim countries, are constantly in the route of development and promotion. He expressed hope that new steps can be taken in the fields of strengthening cooperation between different sectors of economy in Istanbul and different provinces of Iran, cultural cooperation, holding exhibitions, exchanging students and professors between universities and increasing communication between mass media./end
