Turkish premier Erdogan will attend G-20 summit in Cannes

CANNES - (AA) November 2, 2011 -Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will attend G-20 summit which will begin in Cannes, France on Thursday. According to AA correspondent in Cannes, tight security measures were taken in the streets of Cannes, while stores took down their shutters. Nearly 3,000 security guards will work throughout the summit. Measures, which will be taken against recently rising global economic crisis, as well as setting up policies for a sustainable economy will be high on the agenda of the summit which will gather G-20 heads of state and government. Development, agriculture, food safety, fluctuations in commodity prices, commerce, climate change, fight against corruption, employment and social policies will be the other topics to be discussed in the summit. Erdogan, who is expected to be in Cannes in the evening, will be accompanied by Turkish Deputy Premier Ali Babacan and Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek during the summit. Erdogan will deliver a speech in a session on economy policies on Thursday, and then attend the official opening ceremony of the summit. He will also hold bilateral meetings with the leaders. Erdogan will return to Turkey on November 4.
