Turkish president on combatting terrorism

ISTANBUL (A.A) - August 28, 2011 - Turkish President Abdullah Gul has said Turkey would never tolerate any terrorist action and fall into any weakness in its fight against terrorism.
"Everyone should know at home and abroad that the state's power is bigger than any other power. Turkey will never tolerate or condone terrorism. It is impossible in any country to let create an authority vacuum and Turkey will never surrender in the face of an armed group," Gul told an exclusive interview with the Anadolu Agency.
Gul said Turkey had always made a clear distinction between the terrorist organization and the citizens living in the region, adding that democracy would isolate terrorism.
"Turkey is raising its standards in every field, in democracy, in justice and in politics which disturbed certain circles. We need to show the power of the state but at the same time we need to embrace people and make sure that we fix deficiencies, if there are any, in those standards," Gul said.
