Turkish religious affairs foundation to give food in Banadir hospital

MOGADISHU (A.A) - August 28, 2011 - Turkish Religious Affairs Foundation will meet the food need of Banadir Hospital in capital Mogadishu of Somalia.
The foundation's Somalia chief Mehmet Sukru Eroglu told A.A on Sunday that they would deliver 1,500 meals to the hospital everyday.
Noting that 500 of the patients in the hospital were children, Eroglu said that the Foundation would give rice, pasta, oil, flour and meat to the hospital to provide hot meal for the patients.
The aid will continue as long as the hospital needs it, he added.
According to the United Nations, 30,000 children under the age of five have died of hunger and thirst in Somalia in the last three months.
People who escaped from famine, drought and clashes are taking shelter in Mogadishu. Hundreds of these people are being treated in hospitals or field hospitals established by Turkish Health Ministry.
Banadir is the biggest hospital of Mogadishu.
