Two Iran Naval Warships Deployed In Mediterranean Sea

Damascus, Feb 22, IRNA - Two Iranian Naval warships have been deployed in the Mediterranean Sea for patrolling the strategic area, an Iranian official said on Tuesday. He said that 'Kharg' ship tasked with logistical and relief operations and Shahid Naghdi warship passed through the Suez Canal on Saturday and entered the Mediterranean Sea. Local Suez Canal monitors announced on Tuesday that the two Iranian ships were sailing back from the Mediterranean Sea and passing through Suez Canal. The Mediterranean Sea is a strategic waterway between Asia, Europe and African continents. This is the second time that Iranian warships have sailed to the Mediterranean Sea since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979. Iranian Naval warships Alvand and Kharg docked at the Syria's western port of Latkia in 2011./end
